TAKEDOWN RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 7T75274. Bbl. 19 3/8". SA-22 semi-automatic takedown rifle mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported by Browning Arms Company in 1967. Top of the bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN BELGIUM", with "22 LONG RIFLE" marked on the left, and "BROWNING'S PATENT" marked on the right. Underside of bolt is marked with a triad of Belgian commercial proofs, which are repeated on the left side of the bbl. (partially obscured beneath wood line). Sides of receiver feature standard Grade I pattern engraving consisting of wavy line borders with foliate engraving at the center of the panels, as well as a foliate engraved motif on the trigger guard bow. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. High gloss finished checkered wood forearm and checkered pistol grip buttstock with grooved blued steel buttplate. Standard dovetailed and brass beaded blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch flip-up rear sight. Top of bbl. is drilled and tapped with 2 plug screws towards the breech. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light edge wear and a couple of small concentrated spots of light wear fading to gray patina, some superficial handling marks, as well as a few small scattered spots of light to mild pitting. Left side of bbl. exhibits striations and some wear fading to gray patina from prior cleaning. Bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound and presents nicely. (25-6786/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
