Cal. 44. S# 19179. Bbl. 7 1/2". Standard configuration of late production Dragoon at beginning of Civil War. This is an honest, all matching revolver w/ a nice folky inscribed backstrap in fancy somewhat Germanic script “T. W. Rowell”. A little research may be able to find a matching soldier. Another set of initials “MVW” is nicely scratched on butt. Maybe Mr. Rowell captured MVW’s dragoon, or vice versa. CONDITION: good to very good overall, appears complete & matching. Grips are well fit w/ much of their original factory varnish w/ sm. chips at inner toes. Grips were not removed to check for matching number as they appear original. Cyl. retains traces of Dragoon fight rolled scene w/ a couple partial safety pins. Bbl. address is only partially seen, iron overall is dark gray patina w/ pitting. Traces of silver are found in protected areas on backstrap & trigger guard. Inscribed name on backstrap is well discerned. Mechanically functional w/ crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19038/JS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
