U.S.M.C. M40 A1 BOLT ACTION SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 7.62 Nato. S# E6684334. Bbl. 26" with recessed muzzle crown. These desirable and high-quality rifles from Texas Brigade Armory allow buyers to own a rifle that closely replicates the Marine Corp M40A1 Sniper rifle. This highly effective and well liked rifle was used in many of America's wars from Vietnam onward and are still in use today. Few of the originals have ever been released for public sale. This 14.14 pound rifle features a stainless-steel sniper taper bbl. with a 12" twist. Barrel is marked on the right side 7.62 Nato. The receiver ring is marked on the left side, "U.S. / E6684334" / "Remington" / "MODEL 700." Drilled for receiver sight. Receiver is made with clip slots. Bolt is S# to match. Model 70 type trigger guard with a stamped blackened follower. Trigger guard is fastened by socket head screws. Stock is a McMillan stippled epoxy molded forest green camouflaged model equipped with 1 1/2" Wichita engineering sling swivels. Forend is fitted with QD stud to accommodate a bipod. Brown Pachmayr recoil pad. Tan leather MRT Model 1907 sling. The rifle is topped with an extremely high quality Ltd Edition MST 100 Unertl type 1" steel tube scope having a 42mm objective lens. This scope developed by John Unertl in the mid-1970s is actually manufactured by U.S. Optics, a company which had a contract to refurbish the original military scopes. The scope is an improvement of the originals using a tapered coil spring to allow for very accurate adjustments. These scopes were never offered to the general public which created a very high demand. U.S. Optics then produced a limited run for the public and when these had sold another limited run of 100 was made before production ended. These scopes which were made of the best materials with modern machinery compare to any of the best scopes on the market. The scope features an integral bullet drop compensator for M118LR ammunition having 1/2" MOA adjustments. Scope is marked on the left side with "U.S.O. / U.S.M.C. / S#3144". Mil Dot reticle, fixed parallax. Scope is carried in a Unertl type mt. which is a one-piece base. Scope has all black Butler Creek flip up caps. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is accompanied by 5 soft cover reference books related to sniper and sniper training. These books are "The One Round War by Senich; The Military and Police Sniper by Mike R. Lau; U.S. Navy Seal Sniper Training Program by U.S. Navy; Sniping U.S.M.C. reprint; Sniper Training by FM23-10. Books in very good condition with some very light edge wear and flexing of bindings. CONDITION: stock has light wear and scattered sm. handling marks. Brown Pachmayr pack pad has slight flattening at heel from storage. Metal retains a very large percentage of its dull black Cerakote finish with only scattered tiny handling marks. Entire bolt is blackened to match rifle. The scope is in near excellent condition with clear optics. Adjustment knobs have crisp function. Near excellent shiny bore with sharp lands. (25-5150/RW).
