SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 3506v. Bbl. 4". 1 of only 350 P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Mauser under contract for the Bangkok police in Thailand. The bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1936" over the chamber, with the Mauser banner logo marked on the toggle. Left side of the bbl. extension and breechblock exhibit a double Crown/U commercial proof. Bbl. extension lug exhibits a partially discernible Mauser "S 91" proof. Right side of frame exhibits an unusually located Bangkok police Thai encircled lion head, followed by the Bangkok police property # (249) in Thai characters. Rear grip strap exhibits unusual engraved Thai characters. Metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Trigger bar exhibits a dull salt blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, with the S#s and commercial proofs having been enhanced at the time of restoration. Sideplate is poorly fit. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag., with aluminum bottom. S# on mag. bottom has been scrubbed, with the mag. exhibiting a "v" suffix above a properly proofed "+" and Mauser Eagle/63 proof. CONDITION: excellent, as professionally restored, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of light pitting beneath the bluing. Sides of frame (beneath the grip panels) exhibit some spots of pitting. Strawed parts are excellent, as reheated. Mirror bore, as refinished, exhibiting light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some superficial marks to the checkering from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-516). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
