Cal. 65 smooth bore. NSN. Bbl. 44 1/2" oct. to rnd. Percussion lock has been converted from flint. The gun was made using a sideplate & trigger guard from a much earlier gun. Gun is plain & undecorated but is the sort used along the Blue Mountain by settlers just to have a gun around the house. Although not particularly valuable, there are collectors who like to have at least one of these guns in order to show others what the average people used. They are generally harder to find because they were thrown away when they were done being used. CONDITION: everything appears clean & correct the way it was made. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19663/RG). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
