SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 1/2". S# 3052 (Ca 1960. the highest recorded number is 2634 in 1940). An employee relates that 20-30 guns were built after the war, but their numbers were not recorded. The 25" dovetail bbls. are engraved "Thos. Turner & Sons Reading, Newbury & Basingstoke" on unmatted Churchill type rib. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Serial number is on splinter. Coin finished boxlock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" engraved) & dbl. triggers. Top lever, floorplate & trigger guard are blued. Action & other parts are engaved w/ near full coverage, fairly deep lg. shaded scroll which is rather attractive. Maker's name is on both sides. Engraving on fences approaches semi-relief. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Nicely streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a lg. silver oval on toeline is engraved w/ monogram "GA". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .733", L .732". Restriction: R .004" (IC), L .034" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .020", L .017". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/8". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 15". CAST: approx. 5/8" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 4 oz. CONDITION: fine as refinished. Bbls. retaining over 90% of an old reblack w/ some subsequent silvering on rib & around muzzles. Action cleaned to a bright coin finish, engraving remains sharp. Secondary parts show subsequent silvering to their reblue. Engraving somewhat softened. Stocks retain nearly all of a glossy oil finish w/ some marks & scratches. Checkering partially recut. Bores are shiny, but show some fairly deep pits, mostly in right bbl. 8-12" behind muzzle. Action is tight, ejectors are in time. (22-3842/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
