CARRIER. Thompson submachine gun 50-rd. "L" drum mfg. by Auto-Ordnance Corp. Front data plate is marked "MAGAZINE TYPE "L"/ THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/ 50 CARTRIDGES CAL. 45/ FOR 1928 MODEL WIND TO/ 9 OR 11 CLICKS", with "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORP./ NEW YORK/ REGISTERED IN THE/ U.S. PATENT OFFICE" on the rear data plate. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Khaki canvas pouch is ink stamped "U.S." on the exterior of the closure flap, with "G.B. MFG. CO. INC./ 1942" marked on the interior. Cardboard box is marked "373-20/ DRUM HOLDER" above "J.D.". CONDITION: drum retains the majority of its blue finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks and some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Sides of drum body have acquired a plum coloration. Canvas carrier shows light general overall wear with a couple areas of staining. Brass fittings have acquired a darkened appearance and verdigris build-up. Box shows mild exterior wear, but otherwise remains sound. (02-27295/MLW). NON-GUN. $300-500.
