PERCUSSION PISTOLS. 1) Cal. 32. S# 16. 5 1/2" octagon to round bbl. with faceted transition. Brass blade front with fixed V notch rear sight. Round body action with center mounted hammer being slightly offset to the right to allow for sighting. The long-necked hammer is reminiscent of a double shotgun hammer. Walnut bag type grips. CONDITION: bbl. has faded to gray showing spots of very light pitting. The action has spots of pitting & rust with evidence of aggressive cleaning on the side plate. The is broken & welded at the neck with the upper portion being a hand-made replacement. Functioning action. The bore retains good rifling showing some very light pitting. 2) Cal. 32. S# 416. 3 1/2" octagon to round bbl. with faceted transition. Bead front with U notch rear sight. Round body. Center mounted long-neck shotgun hammer is slightly off set for sighting. Walnut bag type grips. CONDITION: faded gray metal with pitting becoming heaviest in the breech area. Refinished grips are slightly undersize showing marks with chips around the action. Sound action. Dark pitted bore. 3) Cal. 40. S# 63. 10 1/2" smooth bore, octagon to round bbl. with faceted transition. Brass bead front with U notch rear sight. Round body action has long necked shotgun style hammer that slightly off-set from center for sighting. Walnut bag type grips. A few thousand of this type percussion pistol were mfg. from the 1840s into the Civil War period. CONDITION: metal has a faded gray appearance with some pitting in the breech area. Grips show handling marks & light wear. Sound action. Smooth bored bbl. shows a few spots of light pitting. (01-28878/DS). ALL ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
