1) Classic circa 1800 Federal era American market mounted officer's saber with brass stirrup hilt and urn pommel, 28", thick 2" wide curved blade with early American patriotic motifs including drooped wing American eagle surrounded by stars with ribband "E Pluribus Unum". Blade is agent signed "L. Wells & Co. / New York". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1989 Bill of Sale & David Condon catalog description of the "Lemuel Wells, NY NCO Saber". Good to very good overall, blade has good gold highlighted etched panels with mixed dark patina, weathered and worn fluted horn grip. 2) Circa 1835 American market eagle pommel mounted officer saber, relief decorated brass stirrup hilt, eagle languet, carved polished bone grip, 29" blade has worn etched military motifs. Good overall, blade has nicks in cutting edge pitting near tip, reverse side of grip has old inset putty repair. 3) US model 1860 militia staff officer sword inscribed "Max F. Fackert". Maximilian Frankfort Fackert, German emigree (1861-1922). He served in the 4th Regiment New Jersey National Guard for 25 years. He was active in the Socialist Party of America and was delegate to several Socialist Party Congresses representing New Jersey. Standard configuration, 29" straight blade etched with American eagle and "US", brass hilt with folding languet, decorated with eagles and panoply of arms, brass mounted steel scabbard. Very good overall, blade is gray with discernible etch. (02-22621/JS). $800-1,200.
