PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 92248. Bbl. 4 1/2". Series I Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at Nagoya's Toriimatsu arsenal in September of 1943. Left side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Nagoya Arsenal insignia, Series I mark, and S# marked on the right side above the Showa date "18.9". Metal components have been cleaned and are in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece custom 4-groove wood grips, which are retained via their original grip screws as well as by the addition of wire. Most numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger, trigger guard, bbl./bbl. extension, cocking piece, bolt, firing pin, firing pin extension, as well as the locking block. Mag. is mismatched (#978). Firing pin extension spring is absent. MAGS: one 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked with several faint Kanji characters on the interior of the lid. Exterior shows several Kanji characters in white paint. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a gray patina, with pitting and age-related discoloration present overall. Dark pitted bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Grips show scattered marks from handling and storage. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some areas of light crazing, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-5467/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
