PERCUSSION KENTUCKY RIFLE. Cal. 40. NSN. Bbl. 37". Half-stock Kentucky percussion rifle, with a "TRUITT BROS/ & Co" marked lockplate. Top flat of heavy octagonal bbl. is marked "J. TROXER". Tiger maple buttstock features a brass buttplate, patchbox, trigger guard, and ramrod ferrules, with a pewter nose cap. German silver blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. Double set triggers. CONDITION: iron components retain a dark gray patina overall, with the lockplate and bbl. exhibit areas of corrosion around the percussion bolster. Brass components exhibit a mellow patina, with the trigger guard appearing to have been cleaned at one time. Buttstock exhibits some scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with a small repaired chip on the right side near the nose cap, as well as a hairline crack that is stems from the breech of the bbl. on the left side.
