1) COMPOSITE MODEL 1861 SPRINGFIELD MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40". This gun was made from a mix of Civil War parts & a modern bbl. w/ patent breech & modern rear adj. sight as well as ramrod. Lock is 1861 dated Springfield w/ the proper stock & flat bands. Trigger guard & hammer are probably from Model 1864. Stock appears from Civil War contract. This gun was used in the North-South skirmish association in the 1960s. CONDITION: very good overall. Bbl. has crisp 12 groove rifling w/ a “NAC” proof on the patent breech on far left. Mechanically crisp. (01-18281/JS). 2) AS FOUND COMPOSITE 1863 DATED SPRINGFIELD RIFLE MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40". This gun appears all original & mostly early 1863 Springfield w/ clamping bands w/ no springs but has Model 1855 or Richmond brass nose cap. If you need a well patinaed brass nose cap for your Richmond musket that are so difficult to find, this is it. CONDITION: fair to good overall. Iron components are dark w/ pitting. Nose cap has smooth, mixed mustard patina. Stock has numerous scuffs, dents, dings. Gun is complete w/ exception of ramrod. Mechanically fine w/ pitted rifled bore. (01-18388/JS). BOTH ANTIQUE. $600-800.
