. Commonly excavated in 1750 era sites, rarely surviving are forged utilitarian tools in good complete condition are these examples; 10" & 11" overall. These were probably found in Mexico and most likely "Scribe" scissors used by numerous civil servants who had to trim paper & vellum documents on daily basis based on very similar examples found with presentations or in museum collections. CONDITION: 10" pair are very good, smooth iron patina, scattered staining & pitting, function well. 11" pair show more wear, blunted tips, still function well, heavy iron patina and pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate collection of Compton LaBauve Jr. (02-26475/JS). NON-GUN. $400-800.
