1) US Mk1 Trench Knife. This is the iconic WWI trench knife w/ the integral brass knuckles & double-edged blade. Blade measures 6 3/4". Knife measures 11 1/2" overall. Double-edged bright blade. Cast brass handle w/ finger loops & knuckle-points. Handle is marked on left side "U.S. 1918 / L.F. & C.-1918". Handle is secured by a pointed Hex nut. Scabbard is modern unmarked sheet metal reproduction w/ black metal finish. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened, turning overall gray & patina w/ numerous spots of light oxidation & very fine pitting. Brass handle has moderate wear & staining, turning patina. Scabbard is in good condition. 2) Interesting Fighting Knife. Made with a cast brass handle, resembling the US Mk1 trench knife & fitted to a Mauser 98K bayonet blade. 9 1/2" fullered blade. 14 1/4" overall. Blade has been given a light "fire blue" & has no markings. The handle has been modified, removing the flared forward part of the crossguard & two of the finger partitions have been removed. Knife is marked "U.S. 1918". The markings are very deep & appear to be done via an etching process. Standard M98K scabbard coated w/ silver paint. Scabbard fitted w/ the standard German type leather frog which has no visible markings. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened, blue finish has been worn w/ peppery oxidation. Handle has a dark patina'd appearance w/ small spots of wear. Notable scratch on right side of grip. Scabbard & frog in good serviceable condition. Stitching is tight on the leather frog.
