An interesting old leather sheathe stamped "MODEL 1903" & "US" in multiple spots. There are several examples of the United States seal embossed in multiple locations, the largest measuring 4" in height w/ "U.S. ARMY" embossed above it. Brown dyed soft leather reinforced w/ thick leather, riveted and sewn in places. Leather construction w/ green webbing terminated w/ snaps & buckles. Measures approx. 45" in length & 7.5" wide at largest area tapering down to 3.5" at muzzle end. CONDITION: stain experiences thinning in crease area but overall coverage is consistent & well aged. Leather remains pliable. Primary embossing is deep & legible exhibiting crossed cavalry swords & the phrase "E Pluribus Unum". PROVENANCE: from the Estate Collections of Charles P. Obremski.
