Cal. 44. S# 35671. Bbl. 8" rnd. with German silver blade sight. Address on top of bbl. reads, " -ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA -". Round rebated 6 shot cyl. with naval scene roll engraving. Bbl., frame, trigger guard, cyl., wedge & backstrap all have matching numbers. Inspector's mark "L" is on the cyl. & frame behind the trigger. One piece walnut grips. Right panel has a very light, 3 character cartouche at the base. Serial number indicates mfg. during the U.S. Civil War in early 1862. CONDITION: bbl., frame & backstrap have a uniform lightly cleaned oxidized finish. 60% Lightly visible cyl. scene. Frame, loading lever & hammer have faded to a mottled gray. Grips have honest wear with chipping at the base caused by hammering. Action is sound. Cyl. Shows heavy tool marks. Fairly good bore with reasonably strong rifling. (01-21643/BF). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,600.
