PARTS KIT. Cal. 30-06. S# 328881. Bbl. 24". Parts kit is made up of a barreled receiver. Receiver drawing number of right forward end is "D 28291-13 S A". The barrel is marked on the right side "S-A 8-41". This date agrees w/ the receiver serial number, giving a manufacture date of September, 1941. Throat gauges: 2.0. Muzzle gauges: 5.0. Bbl. has drawing number on top & British export proofs at the forward end. The bbl. & gas cyl. retain a small area each of vintage red paint indicating a possible lend-lease Garand. Notably the kit has an early operating rod w/o the relief cut. All major parts markings are "SA". Locking bar aperture rear sight. Front sight is still fitted w/ the seal for the attaching screw. Trigger housing has drawing number "D28290-5-SA". Milled trigger housing has drawing number "C-46025-1-SA". Single slot gas cyl. lock screw. All of the small parts appear to be present, including a milled barrel band, trap buttplate, handguard liner, operating spring w/ short fork follower rod. Also included is an original early production green web sling. CONDITION: metalwork retains a large degree of its original wartime finish w/ thinning & moderate wear. Gas cyl. has the expected loss of finish, turning gray. Buttplate is notably worn & handguard ferrule has oxidation issues. Bore has worn lands & dark oxidized appearance in grooves. (25-2969/RW).
