Cal. 38 Spl. S# 7397. Bbl. 4". Commando double action revolver mfg. by Colt for the U.S. military between 1942-1943. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT COMMANDO/ .38 SPECIAL", with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked on across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with a small U.S. flaming ordnance bomb proof above the cyl. latch. Butt is etched "1532635". Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered mottled brown synthetic grips, as well as with a Pachmayr grip adapter. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame and cyl. crane. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original parkerized finish, exhibiting patches and areas of wear fading to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light wear and a few light superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Grip adapter exhibits some chipping on either side. (26-2055/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
