REVOLVER. Cal. 45 S&W. S# 5735. Bbl. 5". Mfg. 1876-1877 as one of 5,934 for Army issue within S# 3036 to 8969 w/ 7" bbls. Military E proof on top of frame under cyl., rear of cyl. and bottom rear of bbl. Each side of smooth walnut grips at butt has very faint remnants of cartouche. Butt stamped "US" and "782" at heel which is normal for later production Army Schofields. Note: 5" bbls. common for Wells Fargo models. Back of right grip numbered 5735 plus back of both grips numbered 782. Barrel & cyl. matching numbered with 5735. CONDITION: fair to good appearance with numerous handling marks and varying degrees of oxidation blended with patina. Slight marks to screw slots and adjoining areas. Top of front sight filed. Light marks around butt of grips that are notably hand worn; replacement hardware store brass grip screw. Fair to good bore with areas of cleaned pitting; best appearing in forward half.
