SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 GA, 2 3/4". S# 1013973. Bbl. 28". Model 12 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1946 under contract for the U.S. military. Right side of the bbl. is marked with the cal. designation, followed by a "MOD." choke marking, with a "P" stamped over the top of the bbl. towards the breech. Right side of the receiver is marked "U.S." followed by a flaming ordnance bomb. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt assembly and carrier, which are polished in-the-white. Right side of receiver exhibits a proper area of discoloration at lower right corner of ejection port, which is also present at and around the upper left corner of the ejection port. Grooved wood pump and plain pistol grip buttstock with Winchester checkered black synthetic buttplate have been lightly sanded and revarnished. Buttstock is marked with a mostly visible boxed "GHD" cartouche above an extremely faint crossed cannons ordnance escutcheon. Toeline of stock is inletted with a blued steel sling swivel. Brass bead front sight. Takedown action with non-takedown mag. tube pin/screw. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and receiver extension. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bbl. exhibits an area of wear and thinning fading to gray patina forward of the mag. tube band, with 2 streaks of pitting present in the corresponding area. In-the-white parts exhibit scattered spots and patches of age related discoloration and light pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage (predominately on the buttstock), but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (25-5500/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
