1903A3 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 4798556. Bbl. 22". Bottom of bbl. marked "HFG", "1971", '7553795", "9805" & S/N 0062". No sights fitted. Bolt is electropencil matching numbered to receiver. This device was invented by Dr. F.W. Mann to test accuracy from different ammo, while eliminating the chance for human error. These Mann devices were made in limited numbers & used by both government arsenals & commercial ammunition makers. Safety not engaging may require attention. Walnut stock w/ two bolts. Forend & butt stock were removed. CONDITION: stock has a couple chips, a couple gouges, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal retains 85% arsenal blue & parkerizing w/ a few dings, some light oxidation, scattered silvering & fading. Very good plus bright bore. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Thomas J.
