MAYNARD TAPE PRIMER FEED. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 42" with rifled bore. Top tang is dated "1857". Lock is marked "REMINGTON'S/ ILION. N.Y./ 1858/ U.S.". Conversion musket retrofitted with Remington lock and Maynard tape primer feed installed by Frankford Arsenal. Band fastened full length stock with steel musket buttplate and sling swivels. Trumpet tipped iron ramrod has added hand engraved marking "AC 43". CONDITION: metal has faded to mottled brown showing surface corrosion. Stock shows heavy wear with numerous scratches, dents, and marks. Forend between lock and first band has series of 5 cuts that appear to be intentionally made. Functioning lock with Maynard primer feed intact. Bore shows intact rifling with scattered spots of pitting. (01-27208/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
