STRAIGHT PULL BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 6mm Lee. S# 4676. Bbl. 28" rnd. Hooded blade front sight with graduated leaf rear sight. Early bolt action rifle designed by James Paris Lee, mfg. rights were obtained by Winchester primarily to fill orders from the U.S. Navy. The Navy designation was "The Model 1895 Musket". Receiver has patent dates of 93, 94, & 95. Clip fed 5 rd. box mag. Band fastened pistol grip walnut stock with hand guard and trapdoor musket buttplate. Leather military sling on original swivels. Total of about 20,000 mfg. 1895-1902. S# under about 13390 were mfg. prior to Dec. 31, 1898. CONDITION: 70% dull lightly faded bbl. blue. Receiver and mag. box have largely faded to gray showing some very light pitting. Sanded and refinished stock shows numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Sound action. Bore is dark with worn rifling.
