MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 483643. Bbl. 24". Replacement barrel is marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 8 44". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards. Movable base and ladder are marked "R". Blade front sight. Front sight base is Model 1903A3 once-piece type. Model 1903A3 bolt with indistinct markings. Scalloped Smith Corona type shroud is marked "BP". Safety marked "R". Smooth milled trap buttplate. Milled butt swivel. Balance of furniture is stamped including small bow trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Replacement Model 1903-A3 straight grip buttstock with two reinforcing pins. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks with an arsenal rework finish. Notable large crack at top of grip extending to nose of comb. Doweled repairs on both sides of grip. Metal retains 75% of its worn arsenal rework finish. Buttplate and trigger guard have notably less finish. Very good shiny two-groove bore. (26-78/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
