ACTION TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 152044. Bbl. 26" with dovetailed hooded post front sight plus Mossberg S-100 receiver sight having target disk at rear. Mfg. 1943-1944 (approx. 53,000 units) as training rifle for all branches of US Military; top front of receiver marked "U. S. PROPERTY" plus "SER. NO. 152044". Oiled walnut stained hardwood stock having simple, grooved steel buttplate. Pistol grip has finger grooved black plastic triggerguard. Trigger and safety lever (behind bolt) have silver color. Bolt handle is case colored. Two holes in stock behind bolt for plastic safety markers; green with "S" for safe and corresponding red ("F") for fire is missing. Screw attached 1 1/4" sling swivels. MAGS: 1 factory 7 rd. CONDITION: as shown, the triggerguard is not right. Appears that it could be rearched with heat and utilize a new attachment point at bottom or a replacement could be obtained. Edges of buttplate have light oxidation; rear surface is fine. All other aspects of rifle are near excellent including the bore. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret.
