USMC MARKED BARREL. Cal. 30-06. S# 1427032. Bbl. 24". Rifle has U.S. Marine Corp marked replacement bbl. by Sedgley. Bbl. marked behind front sight "U.S.M.C. / 7 - 44 / encircled S". Receiver produced in 1934. Ladder rear sight w/o volley notch. Rear sight base is Remington manufacture w/o lightening cuts. Blade front sight. Movable base is marked "R". Bolt w/ straight down handle marked "D4" under safety lug. Large gas hole. Bolt shroud marked "R". All milled furniture except stamped checkered buttplate. "S" type straight grip walnut stock set. Stock w/ two recoil bolts is marked w/ large "P" under grip & is marked on the right side of buttstock "M / 60". Stock markings & rear sight graduations enhanced in white. CONDITION: stock set has lightly worn arsenal rework type finish w/ softening of edges & loss of wood in inletted areas. Stock has non-matching inletted repair ahead of buttplate tang & several filled small handling marks on right side below receiver. Metal retains 75% of its mixed arsenal rework parkerized finishes. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. (25-2809/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
