SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x51. S# 3413549. Bbl. 24". M1 Garand rifle mfg. in 1945 has been given a conversion to 7.62 NATO cal. by the use of a bushing in the original bbl. The receiver has a white plastic spacer to prevent the rifle being loaded w/ the original 30-06 cartridge. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Bbl. is marked on right side "3 S A 1 45" & "7.62 NATO". All major parts markings are SA. Stamped trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Stock & front hand guards are likely replacements. Buttstock marked only w/ "P" under grip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching cardboard shipping box containing 8 rd clip, nylon sling, open bolt indicator, Fulton Armory advertisement & CMP owner's manual. Also includes a certificate of authenticity dated 2004 & signed by Gary Anderson as well as a CMP data sheet. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, staining & handling marks throughout. Rear handguard has 2" crack on left forward end. Stock set has a number of scattered dents. Rear handguard has remnants of white painted rack number. Metal has 75% original finish w/ thinning & wear. Bore has moderately worn lands turning dark in the grooves. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4683/DS). CURIO. $800-1,200.
