RIFLE W/ M84 TELESCOPIC SIGHT CONVERTED TO 7.62 NATO. Cal. 7.62 NATO. Ser. #2064249. Bbl. 26-5/8" including prong type flash suppressor. Bbl. markings on left side include “ENESEO, IL” “308” “7.62 CAL.” & center punched “P” proof mark. Adjustable aperture rear sight & blade front sight w/ protective ears. Rifle appears to be conversion of standard U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand rifle to 7.62 NATO using replacement bbl. Bbl. was altered to accept a reproduction M1 D scope mount & original M84 telescopic sight. Receiver has block at forward end to accommodate the shorter 7.62 NATO cartridge. Receiver has 2 center punch proof marks. All visible parts markings are “SA”. Scope is marked on right side “TELESCOPE M84” & S#. Scope has rubber eye piece, sliding sunshade & hinged covers for elevation & windage adjustments. Post & crosshair reticle. Walnut stock set, stock is marked only w/ circle “P” proof under grip. Trap buttplate. Leather lace-on cheek pad marked “MRT 5-52”. 1907 style leather sling marked “MRT”. CONDITION: stock set has nice appearing arsenal rework finish w/ scattered tiny handling marks. Notable wood filler in bottom right side of forend. Repaired crack extends rearward from bbl. band to mag. well. Metal has arsenal rework Parkerization w/ light wear & handling marks. Scope has lg. degree of original blue finish w/ sm. scratches & handling marks. Optics are slightly cloudy but serviceable w/ several dark spots. Very good shiny bore.
