RIFLE CONVERTED TO 7.62 NATO. Cal. 7.62x51. S# 236071. Bbl. 24". Replacement bbl. marked "S-A-8-47" is additionally marked "7.62 NATO". These rifles were converted to 7.62 NATO cal. by the addition of a sleeve installed in the chamber & a white plastic spacer in the mag. well to prevent loading the rifle w/ the original 30-06 ammunition. Locking bar aperture rear sight w/ "BATTLE RANGE" elevation knob. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA". Milled trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked under grip w/ 2 encircled "P" proofs. Marked on left side of butt & cheek area w/ partial boxed "SA" overhaul marks. Finish has been removed from the left side of the buttstock & the marking appears to be modern. Marked at end of pistol grip w/ faint crossed cannons & "7". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching padded cardboard shipping box contains nylon sling, 8 rd clip, open bolt indicator, Fulton Armory advertisement & CMP owner's manual. Also included is a CMP data sheet along w/ a certificate of authenticity dated 2004 & signed by Gary Anderson. CONDITION: stock set has wear, staining & marks throughout. Metal retains 70% of its wartime finish w/ light wear, including the "two-tone receiver anneal". The bbl. retains nearly all of its arsenal rework finish. Bore has worn lands turning dark in grooves.
