RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 18371B. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 3-29". Barrel is marked on left side over chamber "LONG RIFLE / CART'GE ONLY". Lyman 48S adjustable aperture rear sight graduated to 60 points. This sight does not require a stock clearance cut. Sight does not adjust properly and may need gunsmith attention. Early Lyman globe front sight with aperture insert. Sight is mounted in a modified base and secured by a round head screw. Barrel and receiver are drilled on top for scope blocks. Bolt is marked "M2" on top of handle. Pistol grip walnut stock with grasping grooves. Stock is marked underneath belly with "D28225". Marked with "112" at end of grip. Stock has the inletting on the right side for the earlier Lyman 48 sight. Coarse checkered buttplate without trap. The trigger guard tang has an added brass palm rest mount threaded both externally and internally. The front guard screw appears to be a replacement. The stock has been drilled through from the bottom up to the barrel with an added threaded brass palm rest attachment visible through the hole. This added hole is approximately 1" forward of the trigger guard tang. Rifle is equipped with the standard military swivels. MAGS: 1 detachable 5 round marked "M2". CONDITION: stock has a worn, fading original finish with added spots of what appears to be varnish. Metal retains 75% of its arsenal rework parkerized finish with likely was done when the rifle was converted to the M2 configuration. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (26-1783/RW).
