Cal. 30-06. S# 436966. Bbl. 24". Replacement barrel is marked on right side "S-A-1-52". Throat & muzzle gauge 3.0. Receiver produced at the end of 1941. Rifle likely converted to M1D during the Korean War as indicated by the 1952 barrel date. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA". Milled trigger guard. The barrel has the fixed scope base w/ the correct four point staking. Rear handguard has been shortened to accommodate scope base. Rifle is equipped w/ M84 telescopic sight in correct mount. Scope has nomenclature plate on right forward end marked "TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO. 27917" in box. Flip-up adjustment covers are present. Rubber eyepiece & sliding sunshade are present. Non-tapered post-reticle w/ horizontal crosshair. Walnut stock set w/ very good appearance is marked on left side w/ boxed "SA" & "JLG" for Colonel James L. Guion who inspected rifles at Springfield between July 1950 & May 1953 including arsenal rework. Left side also has crossed cannons. Encircled "P" proof under grip. Stock is fitted w/ lace-on cheekpad marked on right side "MRT / 2 52". Pad is attached by white cotton lacing & retained by a blued steel screw. Green web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: combination tool, nickel plated oiler & plastic grease container in butt. CONDITION: stock set has light wear w/ small scattered handling marks w/ the appearance of a light restorative cleaning. Metal retains a very large degree of its arsenal rework parkerization w/ light high point wear. Scope retains 80% of its lightly worn blue finish w/ scattered small scratches & handling marks. Optics are slightly cloudy, but serviceable. Notable dark spot in top left of lens. Very good shiny bore. (25-4568/RW). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
