RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 54190. Bbl. 32 5/8". Fixed front sight with Model 1873 rifle rear sight. "1873" dated high arch breechblock with "1873" dated Springfield marked lockplate. 2-band fastened walnut stock with iron fittings and slotted tip ramrod. Left side of stock has "ESA" cartouche. CONDITION: bbl. finish has faded to brown showing surface corrosion and spots of light pitting. Action and lock have gray/brown appearance with spots of pitting and evidence of cleaning. Stock has age darkened worn appearance with numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Functioning lock and action with replacement brass firing pin. Pitted bore retains largely intact rifling.
