RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 259256. Bbl. 32 5/8". Pinned blade front sight with graduated leaf rifle rear sight. "1873" dated breechblock with Springfield marked lock. 2-band walnut stock with button tipped ramrod and iron fittings. Left ear of stock has a visible "SWP" cartouche with "1884" date. CONDITION: metal is fading to a mottled brown/gray showing spotted surface corrosion. Wood has aged worn appearance with numerous scratches, marks, and small dents. Sound lock and action. Bore is generally bright with sound rifling showing spots of pitting. (01-27229/DS). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
