MARKED KRAG BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-40 Krag. S# 428961. Bbl. 30". Buttplate is marked on top of tang "N.J". Additionally marked on top of stock ahead of buttplate tang "2" rack number. Model 1901 type 2 carbine rear sight w/ the added leaf spring between the upper & lower bases. Ladder type sight graduated to 2,800 yards. Blade front sight. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked on the left side w/ boxed "JSA 1903" acceptance mark & encircled script "P" proof under grip. Mag. cutoff is not present. Brown leather Model 1907 type sling w/ two brass hooks appears unmarked. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 11 1/2" fullered blade bayonet. Marked on left ricasso "1900". Marked on right ricasso "US". Smooth walnut grips retained by two rivets. Bayonet is additionally marked on the left side of the pommel "92". Blued steel scabbard w/ Phelps type belt hook. Bayonet has worn blade, turning gray w/ spots of light oxidation. Grips have wear & staining throughout. Scabbard retains 50% of its original blue w/ wear, small dents & light oxidation. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, staining & handling marks throughout. Notable dents in bottom of forend below grasping grooves. Handguard has notable missing chips on the top left rear & crack extending between the rear of the handguard & the rear sight opening. Metal retains 50% original blue, turning gray w/ wear. Bore has worn lands, turning dark in the grooves w/ scattered pitting throughout. (25-2789/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
