RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1528484. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "RA", "flaming bomb" & an altered date "4-38". The receiver has a "1" added to the serial number, likely to replicate a "high number receiver". The receiver with its "Hatcher hole" has been drilled for scope block. The bbl. has a scope block mounted ahead of the rear sight & the handguard altered. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards w/ volley notch & flat windage as well as elevation adjustment knobs. 1903-A3 front sight marked "R" w/ replacement sight pin. 1903-A3 bolt assembly marked "R". Walnut stock set w/ scant grip. Stock is marked on right side w/ faint boxed "SAA" & boxed "E" overhaul marks. All milled furniture including flat trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ loss of wood in inletted areas. Metal has 60% of a mix of parkerized finishes. Mag. cutoff is loose on spindle. Rear sight base made w/o lightning cuts has notably less finish. Two-grooved bore has sharp lands, but frosted appearance throughout. (25-2301/RW). MODERN. $400-600.
