AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 5932978. Bbl. 24" inscribed on left side behind front sight "NM" which is the only National Match marked part on these early production rifles. Bbl. markings at right rear include "SA10 55 PT". The throat & muzzle gauge 1.0. Standard late model rear sight. Standard issue blade front sight w/ protective ears. All visible part markings are "SA" & parts seem to work very smoothly as appropriate to a National Match rifle. "High Hump" gas cylinder lock. Cross slot gas cylinder lock screw. Gas cylinder is unmarked & handguards are not integrated together by screws or glass bedding. Stamped trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked w/ boxed "Defense Eagle". Marked w/ crisp circle "P" proof under grip. Stock does not have glass bedding. Trap buttplate. Green web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plastic front & rear sight protectors. CONDITION: stock set has very good appearance w/ light wear & handling marks commensurate w/ careful use. There are several tiny cracks ahead of bottom plate underneath buttstock. Metal retains 85% original dark parkerized finish w/ light wear. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. PROVANANCE: from the estate collection of Thomas J. Mulligan. (23-1206/RW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000..
