ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1223293. Bbl. 24". All markings on the rifle, including stock, have been enhanced w/ white. Marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 2-21-A". Muzzle is star gauged in the 6 o'clock position. The receiver manufactured in 1921 has the polished rails & punch mark of a National Match rifle. The rib on the follower has been polished, however the feed ramp is unpolished. The ladder rear sight w/ volley notch has a polished face & is equipped w/ dished windage & elevation knobs. The front sight movable base does not match the rifle finish & has been equipped w/ a Marbles No.11 bead type sporting sight. The bolt has the single gas hole on the bottom. Bolt handle is marked on top w/ "7" & what appears to be a punch mark. Bolt cams have not been polished. Safety has standard function & is polished bright. Cocking piece has been polished. Trigger guard & floorplate are not marked. S type straight grip walnut stock w/ grasping grooves. Two recoil bolts. All milled furniture including coarse checkered trap buttplate. Buttstock is marked on left side over trigger guard w/ unboxed "S.A. D.A.L.". Marked in cutoff recess w/ "4 / S". Forend tip marked w/ "S". Marked under pistol grip w/ assembly number, two encircled "P" proofs & partial illegible boxed marking. CONDITION: stock set retains a large degree of its lightly worn original finish w/ scattered handling marks throughout. Small rectangular vice marking ahead of cutoff recess. Receiver, bbl. & bolt retain a large degree of the original Parkerizing, except where noted as being polished. Furniture has a mix of worn blue & faded Parkerizing. Very good shiny bore w/ strong lands. (25-2548/RW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
