KNUCKLE KNIFE WITH SCABBARD. U.S. 1918 Mark I trench knife mfg. by the French firm Au Lion. Right side of the ricasso is marked with Au Lion logo above "AULION". Right side of the handle is marked "U.S. 1918". The double edged blade has been cleaned and features a bright polished finish, measuring 6 3/8" from the point to the bottom of the ricasso, with an overall length of 11". Brass knuckle duster handle features spikes at the end of each finger slot, with a steel domed nut skull crusher on the pommel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked black enamel finish steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good, as cleaned and polished, exhibiting some spots of light pitting, with some scattered spots of light age related discoloration. Blade exhibits evidence of sharpening at and around the tip on either side. Brass handle retains a pleasing mellow patina. Scabbard shows some dents, as well as wear and flaking to its original black enamel finish, with worn areas showing through to gray patina. (02-24410/MLW). $600-900.
