TRENCH KNIFE WITH SCABBARD. U.S. 1918 Mark I trench knife mfg. by Landers, Frary & Clark. Right side of the handle is marked "U.S. 1918/ L.F&C-1918".The double edged steel blade features a black finish and measures 6 3/4" from the point to the bottom of the ricasso, with an overall length of 11 1/2". Knuckle duster handle is comprised of darkened brass, featuring a spike at the end of each finger slot, with a steel domed nut skull crusher on the pommel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: steel scabbard marked "L.F.&C./ 1918" on the side, just below the throat. Belt hooks are absent. CONDITION: blade retains large amounts of its original blackened finish, exhibiting some areas of wear, with some areas of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting. Blade shows some striations (possibly from prior cleaning), with some nicks present along the blade edges. Handle shows some wear and thinning to its darkened finish, while retaining a pleasing patina. Scabbard shows some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, but otherwise is good overall. (02-24405/MLW). $600-900.
