WITH SCABBARD. U.S. M1917 fighting knife mfg. by O.C.L. (Oneida Community LTD.) in 1918. Top of the guard is marked "U.S. O.C.L./ 1918". The triangular blade measures 9", with an overall length of 14 1/4". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. 1-piece grooved wood handle, with a folded metal guard, featuring 5 flanges on either side of the knucklebow. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather scabbard. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting some spots/areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. Blade exhibits some scattered nicks to its edges. Handle shows scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Scabbard shows wear, with areas of age related cracking and crazing. Retention strap is torn, with the button no longer being present. (02-24408/MLW). $500-800.
