MARK II FIGHTING / KNUCKLE KNIFE WITH SHEATH. Early pattern USMC KA-BAR Mark II knife, likely customized during the period. Left side of the ricasso is marked "KA-BAR/ ORLEAN. NY.", with "USMC" marked on the right. The clip point blade measures 6 7/8" from the point to the bottom of the ricasso, with an overall length of 11 7/8". Leather washer handle with red spacers present at the guard. Knife features a period added serrated aluminum knuckle bow that exhibits a black painted finish. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade retains a gray patina overall, exhibiting areas of moderate pitting, a few nicks to the blade face, as well as some striations from prior cleaning. Knuckle guard bow retains fair amounts of its black painted finish with the balance remaining in-the-white. Handle shows some separation to the leather washers, as well as some marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Sheath shows wear, scattered handling marks, as well as some areas of crazing. (02-24399/MLW). $700-1,000.
