MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 480667. Bbl. 26". Replacement bbl. is marked behind front sight "W", flaming bomb, "12-17". Ladder aperture rear sight. Ladder is marked "E". Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Sight base is marked "E". Left receiver rail is marked on top w/ 2 eagle acceptance marks. Marked on left side w/ flaming bomb. "P" & "X". Bolt handle is marked on top w/ flaming bomb and "X". Marked underneath w/ "E". Cocking piece marked "EN". Bolt stop marked "E". Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side above trigger guard w/ boxed "3GM-K" which is an unidentified arsenal rework marking. Stock is marked on top of grip w/ "L" & marked underneath grip w/ "10" & an eagle acceptance mark. Forend tip is marked "E". Smooth trap buttplate. Brown military type sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 17" fullered blade reproduction Model 1917 bayonet. Left ricasso marked w/ prominent "1917 U.S." and has very faint "WINDLASS" & "MADE IN INDIA". Right ricasso marked "MD over "E". Grooved hardwood grips. Scabbard resembles WWI type leather w/ metal tips. Painted overall green. Bayonet in very good condition. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear & handling marks over arsenal rework finish. Inletted repair on right side of butt. Metal is a mix of moderately worn original finishes. Bore is shiny w/ sharp lands but has spots of scattered oxidation and pitting. PROVENANCE: from The Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (24-1015/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
