RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Cal. 30-06. S# 175384. Bbl. 26". Marked behind front sight "R / flaming bomb / 2-18". Ladder rear sight marked "R" graduated to 1,600 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Bolt marked "W", which is partially lined out. Additional marking is "NS". Marked on top w/ "flaming bomb". Added "R" & non-matching serial number. Cocking piece is marked "W". Rear sight spring marked "E". Receiver has the "flaming bomb" & two eagle head acceptance marks on the left rail. Walnut stock set has faint "R" at the forend tip. Tan Uncle Mike's leather military style sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 17" fullered blade bayonet. Marked on left ricasso "1918 / encircled REMINGTON". Right ricasso has "flaming bomb / U.S. / eagle head acceptance mark / X". Smooth walnut grips w/ vertical grooves. Green leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. Scabbard has faint "1918" on back. Bayonet blade has traces of blue turned overall gray w/ tiny nicks in the sharpened edge. Worn grips w/ numerous handling marks. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear & handling marks commensurate w/ hard service. Metal retains 50% of original thinning blue turning gray. Follower has been modified to allow bolt to close when empty. Bore has worn lands, turning dark in the grooves. (25-4559/RW). CURIO. $700-900.
