MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 841679. Bbl. 24". Bbl. marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 4-18". This very early production Model 1903 rifle had its bbl. replaced in the WWI era & carries a replacement bold w/ a swept handle. Ladder rear sight w/ volley notch & dished windage & elevation knobs. Blade front sight w/ stamped sight cover. Bolt handle is marked on top "6" & "7". Marked underneath w/ punch proof. All milled furniture including trap buttplate. Floorplate follower & follower spring are not present. Walnut "S" type straight grip stock set w/ two recoil bolts. Brown leather Model 1907 sling dated "1918". Sling is heavily worn w/ cracking. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ loss of wood & softened edges. Markings are not visible. Metal has well-worn thinning original blue finish turning gray w/ handling marks. Bore is shiny, but w/ worn lands. (25-2194/RW). CURIO. $300-500.
