MILITARY RIFLE. CAL. 30-06. S# 254166. Bbl. 26", marked behind front sight "W", flaming bomb, "4-18". Ladder aperture rear sight. Sight ladder is marked "R"; sight spring is marked "E". Blade front sight with protective ears. Left receiver rail has a flaming bomb and a faint eagle head acceptance mark. Bolt is marked on top with a flaming bomb and underneath with "W" and "NS"; safety is marked "E"; cocking piece is marked "W"; buttstock is marked "W" at the tip. Has a notably light-colored appearance with a walnut-like grain. Handguards are walnut. Trap buttplate. Model 1907 leather sling marked "M.D.?" / "H&P. 191?". Sling keepers are not present. CONDITION: stock set has the original finish with staining and numerous handling marks. Small crack behind the receiver tang. Metal retains 75% of its original blue finish with thinning and wear. Receiver shows the two-toned blue finish. Good, shiny bore with lightly worn lands. (24-2017/RW). CURIO. $500-700.
