Cal. 30 Carbine. S# 5071494. Bbl. 18". Barrel markings behind front sight are very faint, but appear as "INLAND MFG. DIV. / GENERAL MOTORS / 3-44". Milled adjustable rear sight. Marked only with faint "crossed cannons". Blade front sight with protective ears. Barrel band with bayonet lug marked "C". Straight cut slide marked "N". Round bolt marked ".U.". Milled trigger guard marked "INLAND". Rotary safety. Straight cut hammer marked "LT-Q". Low wood oval cut walnut stock marked "HI" in sling slot. "Crossed cannons" on right side of butt. "P" proof under grip. Marked on left side with "AAM" indicating overhaul at Augusta Arsenal. Four rivet handguard marked "LJ". Green web sling. CONDITION: stock set with its arsenal rework finish has moderate wear and handling marks throughout. Metal retains 80% of its arsenal rework parkerized finish with light wear. Receiver has been drilled and tapped on left side for scope mount. Very good shiny bore. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe. (25-5550/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
