MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1713675. Bbl. 17 1/2". Marked on right side "1-S-A-6-43". Throat & muzzle gauge 1.0. Locking bar aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Rifle was modified to the popularly termed "Tanker Garand" configuration using a 1943 dated receiver & barrel. All major parts markings are "SA" except the shortened & modified operating rod, which is marked "WRA". Milled trigger guard. Replacement walnut buttstock & rear handguard. Buttstock has inked markings in barrel channel, "B" & "NOV 10 2014". Front handguard was not used for the conversion. Stacking swivel replaced by machine screw & hex nut. Green web sling. CONDITION: stock set has light wear w/ scattered small handling marks. Metal has been reparkerized over scattered shallow pitting & wear. Reconfigured forward end of barrel is blued. Very good shiny bore. (25-3933/RW). MODERN. $800-1,200.
