MILITARY SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06.S# Z4001196. Bbl.24" Barrel is marked behind front sight "RA" "flaming bomb" " 9-43". No iron sights are fitted. Rifle has correct features for a 1903-A4 sniper including the separated receiver markings, the bevel behind the receiver bridge for the bolt handle, the correct bolt & the Redfield Jr. mount with the bevel at the rear. The 3/4" tube Weaver Model 330 scope has electro-markings, "TELESCOPE M73 B1" and "SERIAL NO 36743". Fine crosshair reticle. Scope base attached with Allen head screws and rear hole has been repaired by welding only visible when removed. All blued and stamped furniture including large bow triggerguard and fine checkered buttplate. Original finish "scant grip" walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked over triggerguard with"RA" "crossed cannons" and boxed "FJA". Marked under grip with "circle P " proof. Unmarked 1907 style brown leather sling. CONDITION: Stock set has worn original finish with scattered handling marks commensurate with extensive careful service use. Metal retains app. 80% of its original finish with thinning and light wear. Rear scope mounting hole is positioned slightly too far to the left.
