MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3334448. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 12-42". Rifle is late production by Remington, prior to the changeover to the Model 1903A3 & is equipped w/ a rear sight base w/o lightening cuts. Receiver tang screw hole is drilled through. All visible parts markings are "R". Ladder rear sight w/o volley notch graduated to 2,850 yards. Front sight moveable base has been replaced w/ a Lyman globe target sight assembly w/ aperture insert. Receiver has been fitted w/ a Lyman 48 aperture rear sight. The sight slide is graduated to 125 points. Slide & base numbers do not match. Replacement Model 03A3 bolt. Milled parts include upper & lower bands w/ smooth trap buttplate. Butt swivel & Remington produced small bow trigger guard are stamped. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is straight grip Model 1903A3 type w/ pinned reinforcements. Stock is marked on the left side over trigger guard w/ faint "crossed cannons" & boxed "FJA". Markings under grip include both encircled & plain "P" & "6" proofs. CONDITION: stock set has well-worn arsenal refinish w/ numerous prominent handling marks throughout. Metal retains most of its original gray green hue Parkerization. Very good shiny 4 groove bbl. (25-2964/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
