MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 4771936. Bbl. 24" marked behind front sight "SC / flaming bomb / 8-43". Rifle is nice example w/ original finish, but is fitted w/ a "SA" marked bolt w/ scalloped safety lug & "R" marked bolt shroud. Aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective hood marked "R / flaming bomb / US". All stamped furniture including the scarce large bow trigger guard which has the characteristic curve at the forward end near the guard screw. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked on left side w/ boxed "FJA" & "crossed cannons". Marked in the cheek area "OG" indicating a test check at Ogden arsenal. Circle "P" proof under grip & assembly numbers in-front of trigger guard are crisp & legible. CONDITION: stock set retains a large portion of its original finish w/ scattered handling marks & notable hand-wear in the grip area. Metal retains a very large degree of its original finish w/ light wear & handling marks. Very good shiny 4-groove bore. (25-2211/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
